Rooftop solar project at Betty Layward Primary School

120-panel system empowers the school to go green and save money

Summer 2024 marks a big step for the Betty Layward Primary School in Stoke Newington. Installing a 120 panel system on the South facing roof will reduce annual electricity bills by half, making the school electrically self-sufficient 50% of the time.

UK Solar Generation collaborated on this project with Stokey Energy – Community Benefit Society from Stoke Newington. Together we help transition the neighbourhood into a greener district. Since 2020 we collaborated on several commercial and residential projects in the area.

A big thank you goes to a group of local young students who volunteered to help with the installation. It’s great to see the young generation contributing to the development of their community.

Why PV is great for schools?

Generating energy with solar panels is a great investment. Most of the green energy is produced during school hours, allowing for high self-consumption.

Savings on energy bills mean more funds available for enhancing educational resources and facilities.

Additionally it is a fantastic inspiration for students encouraging them how to utilise renewable energy in the future!
